BASELINE STUDY AND URBAN DESIGN FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF ACCESS TO LIMA’s BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT) STOPS BY PERSONS WITH REDUCED MOBILITY

Project financed with funds from the World Bank through a donation from the Bank of Japan, its main objective was to promote the improvement of the accessibility of urban access routes to the stations of the trunk axis of the high-capacity rapid transport system Bus Rapid Transit “Metropolitano ” from Lima. For the diagnosis, different studies have been carried out that combine the transportation needs, the social demands of the most fragile groups (people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women and people with babies), the location of the travel attraction centers for these groups and the accessibility conditions of the urban environment.

Each of these aspects has been translated into variables of a multi-criteria matrix as part of a decision support process, which has made it possible to select which of the projects developed for the five main stations is considered the highest priority for its execution through the donation received by the Municipality of Lima.
