CONTEXTUAL APPROACH AND ACTIVITIES OF THE COMPANY

We work to incorporate the human scale and functional diversity in all types of urban projects from the principles of Universal Accessibility (UA) and sustainable mobility. When the full UA cannot be reached, we apply Reasonable Accommodation criteria, according to the law and local conditions.

Our main activities cover the consulting and development of instruments for the implementation of UA, such as technical guides, drafting of regulations and technical standards, as well as the creation and application of evaluation and monitoring methods, including the use of Geographic Information Systems.

Participatory processes with users and groups most affected, such as people with disabilities, are part of almost all projects. In the same way, the training and promotion of skills of technical staff and managers are recurring needs, given the scarce presence of the UA in the training curricula. The organization of conferences and workshops is a consequence of the necessary dissemination of the advances produced, as well as a tool for debate and content feedback.

Our applied vision of UA has also led us to innovate in areas such as Active Aging at Home or the Functional Adaptation of housing, together with the promotion care technologies for dependent people.

This variety of activities is due to the transversal and flexible essence of the UA, which addresses almost all areas of the person-environment relationship and contributes greatly to the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations. All this in a context where the projects and the administrations concerned are often sectoral, which is why some of our activities fall within key sectors:

URBAN SPACE

  • Intervention in strategic urban planning through UA national and municipal plans.
  • Carry out field research and analysis of UA demands in different public spaces: streets, urban parks, playgrounds, etc.
  • Evaluation of urban infrastructures and projects and design the necessary UA solutions.
  • Promotion and positioning of Accessible Tourism and UA solutions in historic and protected neighborhoods and cities.

BUILDINGS

  • Advise administrations and companies in the development of their public and private building projects.
  • Carry out demand studies and audits that allow to identify adaptation needs in existing buildings.
  • Design of rehabilitation and new building projects, as well as adaptations for protected buildings and cultural heritage

MOBILITY AND TRANSPORTATION

  • Develop strategic planning of transport and accessible and sustainable mobility at the national, regional and municipal levels.
  • Carry out mobility and travel demand studies, particularly of the groups most vulnerable to UA conditions.
  • Design of UA solutions for transport infrastructure projects (Metro, BRT, buses and stops, etc.).

TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION

  • Our studies and projects seek to take advantage of the possibilities and benefits that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) offer to the whole of society, and in particular to the elderly or people with sensory or intellectual disabilities. For this reason, we incorporate ICTs as part of the proposals. We also analyse and propose the signage, wayfinding and information solutions that must accompany the different projects.
